We are excited to offer a permanent, full-time teaching position at the Epuni Care and Protection residence in Lower Hutt. We seek a nurturing, caring, and enthusiastic kaiako dedicated to empowering ākonga in their learning journey.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience in Trauma Informed and Culturally Responsive Practice, responding to students’ culture, language, and identity, and providing a safe, inclusive, and mana-enhancing environment.
  • Be a strong classroom kaiako with a deep understanding of the NZ Curriculum or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa across levels 1-8.

Proficiency in digital technologies for planning, communication, and administrative tasks is essential. Strong skills in literacy, numeracy, and experience in supporting diverse youth are crucial.

You will design, implement, and review individual programs that allow ākonga to discover new possibilities, a love for learning, talents, knowledge, and skills. Collaboration within the wider team is key. Beyond teaching, you will contribute to transition goals with other educators, specialists, and partners.

The successful applicant will be part of a supportive, dynamic team that values trust and teamwork. Our kaiako benefit from small class sizes (1:7 ratio).

Applicants must hold a current practicing certificate as a NZ registered teacher and a clean, full New Zealand Driver Licence. A private vehicle is required for work travel.

Central Regional Health School has 80 staff across 14 sites in the lower North Island. This position is based at the Epuni Care and Protection Residence in Lower Hutt. Teaching at other sites may be required occasionally.
