Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 ākonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised learning programmes from early childhood to NCEA Level 3.

Our ākonga are at the centre of all we do. We are privileged to have the opportunity to support many ākonga on their learning journey including many at risk ākonga.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position

We have a vacancy for a kaiako in the Ngā Kete o Te Ao Māori rōpū. The successful applicant will be part of a collaborative team guiding and supporting innovative and inclusive curriculum design across a range of mātauranga Māori contexts for learning.

In particular we are seeking expertise in teaching and assessing te reo Māori up to and including NCEA Level 3, and expertise in a range of the sub-fields of Field Māori. Experience in teaching and assessing Te Ao Haka is desirable but not essential. The role is responsible for learning design that connects to ākonga interests, promotes connection with local hapori, hapū and iwi, and champions Te Ao Māori and mātauranga Māori. The role provides learning leadership to kaiako across the school from Y7–15.

Ko koe tēnei | About you

It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and assessment requirements and are willing to learn, innovate, work collaboratively and build effective relationships.

You'll be future orientated and understand how the use of technology, together with your enthusiasm, vision and commitment improves education outcomes for all our students, Māori and Pasifika learners in particular.
