Garston School Te Kura (U1, Y1–8) invites applications for the position of tumuaki/principal.

Overview:

As the tumuaki/principal of Garston School you will have the opportunity to shape the school's vision, inspire innovation, and promote a culture of collaboration, equity and excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, a deep understanding of teaching and learning practice and curriculum development, and a passion for nurturing the growth and wellbeing of every ākonga and kaimahi.

Along with the opportunities at Garston School, there is a beautiful 3-bedroom home within the school grounds. The home is fully insulated, double glazed with wetback fire and stunning views over the Mataura River and surrounding mountains.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership to inspire and motivate children, and whānau
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes ākonga belonging, engagement and wellbeing
  • Collaboration
  • Build strong relationships with whānau and stakeholders to support student success and enhance the school's connection to its community
  • Effective school management.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified teacher
  • Proven experience in ongoing learning within an educational setting, with a track record of leading effective teacher practice to maximise outcomes for all students
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • A deep commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, belonging, equity and excellence.
