Head of subject - te reo Māori

This position is for a permanent, full-time head of subject of te reo Māori, commencing as soon as possibly available. 

Vanguard is a highly regarded special character, senior secondary school based in Albany on the North Shore. The school has an approximate roll of 192 students, with an outstanding attendance and academic achievement record. 

We are looking for a head of subject for te reo Māori who has expert knowledge in NCEA Level 1 to 3 te reo Māori and is fluent in te reo Māori with a strong foundation in Tikanga and Matauranga Māori. Our key curriculum focus is on the speaking, listening and writing of te reo Māori. As New Zealand's only military school, knowledge of the historical link between the NZDF and Māori participation in the NZDF would be an advantage.

The position requires the following skills:

• Experience teaching NCEA Levels 1 to 3
• Has good subject and curriculum knowledge
• Has good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong pastoral care is required
• Must want to teach in a structured, disciplined and well organised environment
• Military style leadership experience is an advantage.
