Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate technology teacher with the ability to teach food and textiles to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality lessons to students in Y7 to 13, fostering creativity and practical skills in food technology and textile design.
Key responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver effective and stimulating lessons in food and textiles.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
Assess and evaluate student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and resources.
Participate in extracurricular activities and school events, contributing to the wider school community.
Integrate bicultural perspectives into the curriculum, reflecting the unique cultural context of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Stay updated with current educational trends and best practices in technology education.
Qualifications and experience:
A relevant tertiary qualification
A recognised teaching qualification and current registration with the New Zealand Teaching Council.
Proven experience teaching food and textiles at the secondary school level is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for lifelong learning.
An understanding of and commitment to bicultural education and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
