We are seeking a permanent full-time Kaiako (40 hrs per week) to join our small and dedicated team at Peninsula Early Learning (formerly known as Peninsula Community Preschool). This position is available due to one of our long-term Kaiako transitioning to the Manager role.

At Peninsula Early Learning we place a strong focus on nature-based learning and we are committed to helping tamariki to develop a love of and connection with the natural world. We take a small group of children out on Nature Walks in our local community three days every week and we are proud to have achieved our Green/Gold Enviroschools Reflection Award.

We are a small Preschool with 25 children attending (mostly 3 and 4 years of age), located in the Eastern Suburbs of Wellington.

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • Fully qualified and hold current Teacher Certification with the NZ Teacher’s Council
  • Have a commitment to nature-based learning and a willingness to join some of our weekly Nature Walks
  • Have experience and passion for working with children of this age group
  • Passionate about creating inspiring, beautiful environments and to ignite wonder and curiosity through provocations and learning experiences
  • Confidence and commitment to working in collaboration with parents and families

We are excited to offer:

  • A competitive salary (including full pay parity rates)
  • Fixed working hours (our Kaiako generally work 8am-4.30pm each day)
  • Enhanced non-contact hours: our children leave at 2.45pm each day, leaving the last part of each day free to incorporate meetings, extra release time and PLD opportunities
  • 6 weeks annual leave each year, including an annual 3 week shutdown period over Christmas
  • A wellness package, including an additional 3 wellness days per year
  • Regular PLD opportunities and a dedicated PD Budget per Kaiako
  • Mentoring and support throughout Practicing Certification

Applicants must hold a NZ recognised ECE qualification, current practicing certificate and first aid certificate.
