Guidance counsellor

Matamata College is a Y9-13 state secondary school in Matamata, Waikato. We have a proud history of student achievement since 1918. Our school is at the hub of our local community which is as rich in history as it is diverse.  A strong rural base has given rise to many successful and varied businesses.  We have a valued association with local iwi Ngāti Hinerangi, Ngāti Hauā and Raukawa.

We are seeking an NZAC registered and qualified guidance counsellor to support our students/ākonga and whānau.

You will take a lead role within the pastoral care system, working closely with senior leadership, deans, teaching staff, and external agencies to ensure quality pastoral care and inclusive education for all our students.

The successful candidate will relate well to rangatahi and be able to build trusted relationships to ensure that all ākonga thrive at Matamata College and make the most of their educational opportunities.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience with a variety of counselling tools and a desire to make a difference.
