ABOUT US / MŌ MĀTOU
Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education New Zealand is a Specialist School for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. We have a focus on growth, learning and collaboration. You will be joining a nationwide team and you will share their passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality education and services to DHH students. We have 12 provisions (satellite teams) based in primary and secondary schools in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
THE ROLE / TE MAHI
We are in search of either a qualified teacher of the Deaf or an experienced New Zealand registered classroom teacher who has in-depth understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and assessment tools. This is a permanent part-time (0.5FTE) role and covers classroom release time in the Kelston area.
In this role:
Applications will be considered from teachers with recent knowledge and understanding of the core business of lifting student achievement and wellbeing. Prior experience working with DHH students is desirable. If required, we will support you to develop an awareness of Deaf Culture and the Deaf community. Proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) - or a strong commitment to learning NZSL is essential.
