Our current Principal is retiring at the end of 2024, so we are looking for a new Manawataki who can build on the recent developments at our kura and continue to improve what we offer to all in our community.

Pitau-Allenvale is a specialist provider for students who receive targeted funding through the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS). With an expected start roll of 130 students in 2025 aged from 5 to 21, we have recently moved to a new site at Belfast, Christchurch but deliver programmes at a number of other sites around Christchurch and further afield. We have a staff of around 100 which includes 30 teachers, 60 teacher assistants, specialist teams who support students and administration staff.

We are looking for a new Principal who shares our vision, is forward thinking, will look for opportunities both inside and outside our school gates and can inspire the staff and students to be the best they can be. Previous experience in Special Needs Education, whilst advantageous, is not essential, but the Principal will need to have an empathy for the special needs of the Pitau-Allenvale students and be committed to their welfare, development, education and transition beyond school.

Moving into the future, we are looking for a Manawataki who can focus on

  • Embedding the school on the new site and developing a strong relationship with Putahi-Belfast.
  • Management of the satellite units, ensuring the same high quality of education and care, and fostering a good relationship with the host schools.
  • A review of the Transition Education Hub to ensure it is meeting need and achieving what its purpose is.
  • Developing a presence and relationships within our new community.

This is an exciting and amazing opportunity in an environment that has to be seen to be believed so don’t wait – get in touch for an Information Pack!
