We are seeking innovative and enthusiastic teachers of English to work with the Faculty of Language Acquisition and Literature. Applicants will have a growth mindset, the ability to develop and create responsive assessment practices for students and will be flexible. Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement as assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education:

Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, starting rate of $59,027 and top rate of $99,216. Hours of work will be full time (25 hpw) as set out in the STCA.

Entry requirements:

To become a secondary teacher, you need to have one of the following at Level 7 or above of the NZQF

  • A specialist subject degree followed by a one-year Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) or a Master of Teaching (Secondary)
  • A Bachelor of Education (Technology)
  • A Bachelor of Teaching conjoint degree (a combination of teaching and specialist subjects).
