Principal

Te Ākau ki Pāpāmoa School and community are excited about the opportunity to appoint a Principal to lead our school into the future.

The tamariki of our kura are looking for a kind, calm, creative and welcoming Tumuaki, who values te reo me ngā kaupapa Māori, provides a variety of exciting learning opportunities in and out of school, enjoys spending time with the tamariki, and knows who they are.

The board, staff and school community are seeking a Tumuaki who:

Shows leadership: 

• is an inspirational leader.
• creates a positive environment that students and staff want to come to each day, where they thrive and feel safe.

Knows education: 

• provides world class education, with a wide range of opportunities to participate in a broad curriculum, including sports, culture, arts, digital technology, EOTC, and quality teaching of core learning areas. 
• has strong current knowledge in pedagogy, curriculum, and quality teaching practice.

Develops sense of community: 

• creates connections with, and instils trust from those around them.  
• fosters positive relationships with board members, staff, students, whānau, iwi and wider community.

Champions Te Ao Māori: 

• demonstrates a strong commitment to te ao Māori, and te reo Māori.
• gives effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• builds relationships with mana whenua and local iwi.

Has proven experience:

• has proven experience with finance, property, budgeting, personnel, staff development, and health and safety.

Has integrity:

• has mana and upholds the mana of others.
• is responsive to the needs of our ākonga, kaiako and whānau through being an effective listener, communicator, and collaborator.

Is genuine: 

• supports those around them.
• is empathetic.
• has a sense of humour and enjoys being a core part of school culture!
