Blending real-life stories with robust educational resources, Paralympics New Zealand’s new educational programme is aiming to make a lasting impact
School nurses and health professionals have welcomed a new ‘one-stop-shop’ website where they can get all the resources they need to run their clinics and support student health and wellbeing.
A new website launched by NZ School Nurses in late March 2018, aims to decrease the amount of time nurses spend ‘reinventing the wheel’ by sharing new online templates that can be applied to any school clinic, making it quicker and easier for school nurses to find the resources they need.
To support nurses to support their students’ health and wellbeing, the resources are targeted to pastoral care teams, including the principal, deputy principal, head of pastoral care, guidance counsellor, social worker, school doctor and/or physiotherapist, youth workers, RTLBs and SENCOs.
There are templates to help run clinics smoothly, resources to support the professional practice of school nurses, and resources to support schools to promote a school-wide approach to improving health and wellbeing, such as pastoral care guidelines.
Some resources are pre-existing and have been developed by other agencies, while others have been newly developed by NZ School Nurses.
School nurses can also use the website to find local and online training opportunities and connect with local youth health services and other health professionals.
