In our first session of three we introduce our attendees to the Cultural Narrative that has been gifted to Tūranga.
We aim to share the different ways in which tikanga and mātauranga Māori is displayed within libraries and how that is weaved into the way we the Pou Kohikohinga Māori work. Our focus is to provoke thought and generate conversation around these themes and to encourage our attendee’s growth and comfort with tikanga and mātauranga Māori.
We hold these sessions like a wananga it’s open conversation and is a safe space for all to learn.
The connection between this kaupapa and the Canterbury Kāhui Ako Digital Project comes with the collective desire to support kaiako to ensure that culturally responsive practice is always at the forefront. When we are working with our young people to empower them to tell their stories and become creators using digital technologies, we want to ensure that we as kaiako have a strong foundational knowledge of mātauranga, and where to find resources to support this.
Session one dates
