Rotorua - Thursday 27 June 2024 - 6.30–7.30pm

This professional learning development session will be framed using Ki Te Hoe – Navigating Te Tiriti o Waitangi within ECE contexts.   The focus will be on the intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how the articles can be authentically reflected in pedagogical practice and the centre curriculum.

This workshop is suitable for beginning teachers and long-standing teachers in the ECE sector who would like to refresh their knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in modern day society.

The PLD will offer a rationale for both the historical and legislative standing of Te Tiriti o Watangi including:

  • Examples of what governs practice within the early childhood education sector.
  • Questions for reflection and consideration.
  • A break down of the four articles and how these can be successfully implemented and reflected within the ECE curriculum.

In the current political climate, there is a need for Kaiako to enhance their current knowledge and obligations as Tiriti-based Kaiako working within a bicultural curriculum framework.  This PLD aims to support and enhance Kaiako knowledge on Te Tiriti o Waitangi and their on-going engagement and obligations to uphold our founding document through every-day pedagogies.
