Principal - Education Leader

Herekino School is seeking an experienced teaching Principal

Our school caters for students in Years 1–8. We are a small rural school in the Far North with a strong sense of whānau and community connections, and with a commitment to the success and wellbeing of every learner.

About the successful applicant: 

• Registered New Zealand teacher with a current practising certificate.
• A highly regarded teacher
• Experience in a senior leadership role
• Actively develops a settled, inclusive learning environment through consistent approaches to behaviour and a commitment to student wellbeing
• Committed to fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and whānau
• Ability to build strong working relationships within the school and externally with iwi, hapu, the wider community and kaimahi Maori
• Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and effective assessment practices

Teaching component

This is currently a teaching principal position.  The successful applicant will teach for part of the week while providing leadership across the school. 

A schoolhouse is available for the duration if required.
