Key requirements 

• Proven ability to teach English across Years 9–13, including NCEA English and equivalent secondary qualifications.
• Strong understanding of NCEA requirements, including assessment design, internal and external assessments, moderation, verification and accurate assessment documentation.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging English learning programmes that develop literacy, critical thinking and a love of learning.
• Knowledge of the refreshed English curriculum and the ability to implement curriculum changes relevant to the kura.
• Understanding of the transition to new senior secondary qualifications and the ability to prepare for and implement these changes.
• Ability to teach a second minor subject, agreed in consultation with kura leadership based on the needs of the kura and the pouako’s expertise.

This position qualifies for the Teacher Bonding Scheme (TBS). The eligible teacher recruited into this vacancy will receive annual payments accumulating to a maximum of $40,000 (before tax) after 5 years. See Teacher Bonding Scheme for more information.
