Visiting Teacher - Home Based Childcare

Nurtured at Home is a home-based early childhood service where our Educators and Nannies care for small groups of children/tamariki in a home setting. As a Visiting Teacher, you’ll support, coach and guide a group of Educators/Nannies and the families they work with, ensuring every child/tamaiti receives quality learning and care.

What you’ll be doing

• Visiting Educators/Nannies in their homes and coaching them to weave Te Whāriki into everyday play and routines
• Building warm, trusting relationships with children/tamariki, parents and whānau
• Supporting planning, assessment and learning stories
• Running playgroups and planning group outings (Discovery Days)
• Helping to recruit, safety check and induct new Educators/Nannies, including completing home safety checks
• Ensuring your Educators/Nannies meet the licensing criteria for home-based services, including health and safety and child protection
• Act as a Person Responsible for the network

What you’ll bring

• At minimum, a Diploma of Teaching (ECE) or an equivalent NZ early childhood teaching qualification
• Current Teaching Council registration and full practising certificate
• A full New Zealand driver licence
• A current first aid certificate (or a willingness to get one)
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and confidence using te reo Māori and tikanga
• Strong communication and coaching skills, with a knack for empowering others to grow
• Good organisation and time management skills to manage your own week and visits
