Scale A Teacher

Tasman School is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and caring teacher to join our supportive team in 2027.

We are a welcoming rural full primary school (Years 0 to 8), with wonderful tamariki, a committed staff and a strong sense of community. We value positive relationships, collaboration, evidence-informed teaching and creating an environment where every learner can thrive.

This position will be based in our new entrant/Year 1 classroom, supporting our youngest learners as they begin their school journey.

We are looking for a teacher who:

• builds warm, positive relationships with tamariki, colleagues and whānau
• understands the developmental needs of young learners and creates a welcoming, engaging and inclusive classroom environment
• has a sound understanding of Phase 1 of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum, particularly structured literacy and effective early mathematics teaching
• balances explicit teaching with purposeful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences
• uses assessment effectively to recognise individual strengths, respond to learning needs and support progress
• values strong partnerships with whānau and early childhood providers to support a positive transition into school
• brings enthusiasm, creativity and a collaborative approach to school life.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience teaching new entrant and Year 1 students within the New Zealand education system. Experience contributing to transition-to-school programmes would also be an advantage.

Applicants must hold New Zealand Teaching Council registration and a current practising certificate, or be eligible to obtain these.
