Gisborne Central School Gisborne

Year 1 Teacher

  • Full-time
  • Fixed-term (3 Feb to 17 Dec 2027)
  • Suitable for beginning teachers

About the role

Our vibrant, values-based school is seeking an enthusiastic, high-quality teacher to join our collaborative junior syndicate for the 2027 school year, starting term 1, 2027.

This role involves opening and leading a new new entrants class. We are embarking on an exciting journey with Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), so we are seeking a New Zealand-registered educator with expertise in early literacy, foundational numeracy, and structured, explicit teaching practices who can create a warm, nurturing environment for our youngest ākonga.

You will bring a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, strong relationship-based practice with whānau, and a collaborative team spirit. In return, we offer a supportive leadership team, a close-knit staffroom culture, and targeted professional development to support our EDI approach.
