The Benneydale School board is seeking a principal who will bring clear direction, high expectations and a strong commitment to the success of every learner.

We are a small rural full primary school in the King Country, southeast of Te Kūiti. Our tight knit, supportive community has close connections with local iwi, Rereahu. Our CARE values – Community, Aroha, Respect and Excellence – guide the way our committed staff support students as they learn and work together.

Our school’s involvement in conservation, gardens and orchard provides opportunities for learning that connects our tamariki with their environment and community.

We are looking for a leader who will:

• be visible and approachable, bringing warmth, sound judgement and a sense of humour to everyday school life
• provide strong curriculum leadership, with a clear focus on effective teaching and progress in literacy and mathematics
• build staff capability through practical guidance, professional learning, clear expectations and constructive feedback
• foster a settled, inclusive learning environment through consistent approaches to behaviour and a commitment to student wellbeing
• uphold the place of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori, working alongside whānau and mana whenua to support learners’ identity, language and culture
• listen carefully, communicate openly and develop trusting relationships with students, staff, the board and community
• bring the organisation and follow-through needed to manage a small school effectively.

Applicants must be New Zealand registered teachers with successful leadership experience and a willingness to contribute actively to classroom teaching.
