Scale A Teacher Years 7 and 8

Birkdale Intermediate School is seeking a passionate, positive, and collaborative Scale A teacher to teach in a Year 7 and 8 composite classroom for 2027.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who is committed to inclusive education, holds high expectations for all learners, and brings a growth mindset to their practice. You will be joining a supportive, collegial staff who value positive relationships, strong teamwork, and hard work.

Situated on Auckland’s North Shore, Birkdale Intermediate serves a wonderfully diverse and close-knit community. We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of academic, cultural, and sporting opportunities to meet the needs and interests of our Year 7 and 8 students while striving for academic excellence.

The successful candidate will have:

• outstanding interpersonal skills, with an honest and passionate approach to teaching
• The ability to identify and plan for the individual needs of diverse learners using effective, evidence-based classroom practices
• strong organisational and classroom management skills, with the ability to work in an agile, flexible environment
• a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to weave culturally responsive practices into daily classroom teaching to build strong relationships with students and whānau
• a collaborative mindset and a desire to contribute positively to our wider school culture and team.

While prior teaching experience is preferable, most importantly we are seeking a teacher committed to their ongoing professional growth and development, and our students, whānau, and wider school community.

Position starts term 1, 2027. New Zealand registered teachers only.
