IQRA School is a state-integrated, Year 0-8 school in New Lynn, Auckland. The school was recently recognised as a finalist in the Excellence in Student Engagement and Attendance category at the 2026 New Zealand Education Excellence Awards.  

With a roll of approximately 280 students and plans to expand to Year 9 and 10, this is an exciting time to join our school community and grow your career with us. 

You'll lead your team and teach a Year 8 and Year 9 class. For a candidate with the right experience and passion you'll also lead curriculum across the school. You'll work closely with other team leaders and the principal to strengthen teaching practice, support student achievement, and contribute to the school's continued growth. 

The role carries 1-2 Management Units depending on experience and responsibility, and attractive classroom release time. The successful candidate can also apply for a fixed-term Acting Assistant Principal (2 Units) position during Terms 1-3, 2027. 

You will: 

• Have educational leadership experience in a New Zealand (or similar) curriculum setting 

• Have strengths in mathematics and science 

• Recognise and respect the school’s Muslim special character and be involved in the life of the school. Applicants do not need to be Muslim. 

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Area School Teachers' Collective Agreement. 

This position qualifies for the Teacher Bonding Scheme (TBS). The eligible teacher recruited into this vacancy will receive annual payments accumulating to a maximum of $40,000 (before tax) after 5 years. See Teacher Bonding Scheme for more information.
