Te Kura o Hau Karetu Wellington
Kaiako | Teacher Years 3 and 4
- Full-time

About the role
Our little school is growing! Te Kura o Hau Kāretu is seeking a patient, understanding, and dedicated kaiako to join our vibrant learning community in a permanent, full-time position (1.0 FTTE) teaching in our Years 3 and 4 classroom from term 1 2027.
At Te Kura o Hau Kāretu, we celebrate diversity and recognize that every child arrives with unique strengths, learning styles, and individual needs. We are looking for an educator who brings warmth, deep empathy, and a high level of patience to the classroom, creating an environment where every student feels safe, understood, and empowered to learn as our school community continues to expand.
What we are looking for

- Commitment to Te Ao Māori – a strong appreciation for Māori culture and a commitment to embedding tikanga and te reo Māori meaningfully into daily classroom life and learning.
- Open to all levels of experience – whether you are an experienced teacher or a beginning teacher or early career kaiako looking for a supportive environment to start your journey, we encourage you to apply.
- Relational and patient approach – a calm, nurturing educator who builds strong, trust-based relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues.
Professional learning and support
We will provide Professional Learning and Development (PLD) to your goals, along with dedicated advice and guidance mentorship if you are early in your career.
