Te Kura o Hau Karetu Wellington

Combined .04 Year 6 Teacher and 0.6 ORS Specialist Teacher

  • Full-time
  • Permanent

About the role

Te Kura o Hau Kāretu is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and compassionate kaiako to join our inclusive and dedicated team in a permanent, full-time position (1.0 FTTE) to start from term 1 2027.

This hybrid role combines 0.4 FTTE teaching in our Year 6 classroom with 0.6 FTTE as a Specialist Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for you to try something different!

As our specialist ORS teacher (0.6), you will work closely with tamariki who have high and complex learning needs, designing tailored learning pathways and fostering an inclusive environment where every child is supported to thrive. In your Year 6 classroom component (0.4), you will bring energy, strong curriculum delivery, and an engaging classroom culture.

Due to potential roll growth and changes in ORS funding, the specific breakdown of this role may evolve in 2028, so we are seeking a candidate who is adaptable and flexible regarding future staffing needs.

We are looking for someone who is a super teacher who is:

  • ORS and special education experienced – experience and expertise working with ORS-funded learners and diverse learning needs are required
  • compassionate and relational – a caring, empathetic educator who puts the wellbeing, identity, and dignity of tamariki at the center of their teaching practice
  • highly collaborative – strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to working collaboratively with kaiako, whānau, leadership, and learning support networks
  • teacher aide support and leadership – strong capability to guide, support, and empower our teacher aides so they can deliver effective, coordinated support in the classroom
  • a positive behaviour management – excellent, relational behaviour management skills grounded in positive, proactive, and restorative practices.
