  • Full-time
  • Permanent
  • 4MU

About the role

Te Kura o Te Teko seeks a culturally grounded educational leader to support the Tumuaki and strengthen teaching, learning and wellbeing across our kura.

Situated in the heart of Te Teko, our kura is deeply connected to tamariki, whānau, hapū and our wider hapori. Our Rumaki and Auraki pathways uphold identity, language and culture so that all ākonga can thrive and succeed as Māori.

Our new deputy tumuaki will:

  • uphold Ngāti Awatanga, te reo Māori, tikanga and Te Aka Matua o Te Kura o Te Teko
  • strengthen teaching, assessment, literacy, mathematics and measurable progress across both pathways
  • coach kaiako and kaiāwhina and develop leadership capability
  • support ākonga wellbeing, belonging and inclusive practice
  • support delegated daily operations, safety, resources and reporting within agreed responsibilities
  • work within written delegations and build trusted partnerships with whānau, hapū, iwi and agencies.

We seek a relational leader who demonstrates Te Manaakitanga, Te Kotahitanga and Te Tauakitanga, with sound judgement, clear communication and a commitment to equitable participation.

This is a non-teaching deputy principal position for 2027. The non-teaching arrangement will then be reviewed in November. The job description will be mutually discussed and agreed between the tumuaki and the successful applicant. Portfolios could include SENCO, Teaching and Learning and Pastoral Care.
