About the role
We are seeking a collaborative, dedicated, and experienced NZ registered teacher to join our school community as a Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) for two days per week (0.4 FTTE), fixed term for the 2027 school year.
The LSC plays a vital role in ensuring all learners with diverse learning and wellbeing needs can access the support they require to fully participate, progress, and thrive in an inclusive learning environment. Working alongside classroom teachers, leadership, teacher aides, whānau, and external specialist services—including Ministry of Education Learning Support and Resource Teachers Learning and Behaviour (RTLB)—the LSC acts as a connector and facilitator across our multi-layered system of support.
Key responsibilities and focus areas
- Learner and whānau Engagement: Build strong, culturally responsive partnerships with tamariki and whānau to ensure their voices, identity, and aspirations guide learning support decisions.
- Teacher capability and support: Collaborate with classroom teachers to interpret assessment data, co-design support plans, and enhance inclusive teaching practices across everyday routines.
- Coordination of supports: Initiate requests for specialist support (MoE, RTLB, health services) and oversee in-school allocation and guidance for teacher aides.
- Transitions: Plan and facilitate smooth, predictable transitions for learners entering school or moving between educational levels.
- Leadership and strategic alignment: Work with school leadership to contribute data-informed insights, align targeted/tailored interventions, and champion inclusive education grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Minimum requirements
- Current NZ teacher registration and a full practicing certificate.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and working with learners who have diverse learning, behavioral, or wellbeing needs.
Key skills and attributes
- Strong relational and communication skills with the ability to influence and coach adults effectively.

- Understanding of inclusive pedagogy, universal design for learning, and data-informed decision-making.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
