About the role

Are you an inspiring, enthusiastic educator looking to join a vibrant, supportive, and fun-filled teaching environment in 2027? Normanby School, located in the heart of South Taranaki, is looking for an excellent primary teacher to join our team!

About our school and values

At Normanby School, we pride ourselves on nurturing capable, confident learners through our S.T.A.R. values:

At the core of our teaching philosophy is relational practice. We are seeking a teacher who puts relationships (whanaungatanga) at the heart of everything they do. You will be someone who:

  • Demonstrates empathy, active listening, warmth, and a restorative approach to managing classroom dynamics.
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment and brings a positive, can-do spirit to our staffroom.

2. Curriculum and pedagogical strengths

  • Year level: Negotiable — to align with the successful candidate’s strengths and passions.
  • Literacy and Numeracy: Experience in delivering structured literacy through the Better Start Literacy Approach (BSLA) or the IDeal literacy approach is a strong advantage.
  • Maths: Experience or familiarity with Maths No Problem! will also be highly regarded.
  • High expectations: A commitment to delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences that empower all learners to achieve their potential.
