Learning Support Coordinator (LSC)

Whitikahu School is seeking an experienced, collaborative educator for a 0.2 FTTE Learning Support Coordinator position. The LSC sits at the heart of our school, coordinating all levels of assistance from everyday classroom adaptations to tailored programs so we can spot challenges early and help every learner thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Early identification and tiered support: Use assessment data and screening tools to identify needs early and co-design tailored support plans with class teachers.
• Teacher Coaching: Collaborate with teachers and teacher aides to enhance inclusive practices and coordinate interventions (including Structured Literacy and Maths/Pāngarau).
• Specialist and agency collaboration: Serve as the main contact to coordinate external specialist services, aligning with Ministry Learning Support specialists and RTLB.
• Whānau partnership: Build trusting, mana-enhancing relationships with whānau to guide support plans and decision-making.
• Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural responsiveness: Embed Te Tiriti principles, bicultural practices, and local tikanga across learning support.
• Data Fluency: Analyse attendance, progress, and achievement data to provide actionable reporting to the principal for strategic resource allocation.

Minimum criteria

• Fully registered teacher holding a current Practising Certificate and recognised qualification.
• Demonstrated coaching and relational capability across school staff.
• Expertise in evidence-based inclusive education strategies.

Access to the Ministry of Education’s national LSC PLD pathway via the LMS, including Induction, Role Essentials, and Subject Matter Area (SMA) courses (for example, Autism NZ and FASD-CAN).

Commencement: Term 1, 2027 (or negotiable).
