Sparrows Early Learning Centre Waikato
Kaiako
- Part-time (0.3 FTTE)
- Permanent
- Suitable for beginning teachers
About the role
We’re a small, boutique, mixed-age centre licensed for 30 tamariki — a rare find these days! Our centre has a warm, whānau-like environment, and we believe whanaungatanga is at the heart of learning.
We use tuakana–teina as an active teaching approach, encouraging tamariki to think, build strong relationships with their peers and grow in independence. This approach is also reflected in our teaching team. We value shared learning and recognise that every kaiako brings their own strengths and experience, adding depth to our teaching practice.
We’re looking for a qualified or in-training kaiako who is passionate about mixed-age learning and keen to join a small team of professional kaiako who support one another and enjoy working together. You’ll bring confidence, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in growing your teaching practice.
This is a part-time role, working 2–3 days per week.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- are provisionally or fully registered, or currently training to become a kaiako
- enjoy child-led learning and being actively involved in tamariki’s play
- value working collaboratively in a close-knit team
- bring warmth, energy and a genuine passion for teaching.
We offer a quality learning environment, a small group size, generous non-contact time, a staff uniform and full pay parity. Most of all, we value our kaiako and the important role they play in shaping the next generation.
