About the role

St Peter’s School is seeking an inspiring and experienced Head of Speech & Drama to lead our programme, nurturing students’ confidence, creativity and communication skills through performance, public speaking and theatrical experiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate performing arts professional to lead and grow our Speech and Drama programme, work alongside talented colleagues, and contribute to the vibrant performing arts culture of our school.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Performing Arts, the Head of Speech and Drama will lead the development and delivery of our Speech and Drama programme, providing engaging learning and performance opportunities for students across a range of ages and abilities.

The role combines individual and small-group tuition with programme leadership, directing and supporting theatrical productions, collaborating with Head of Drama on the co-curricular drama programme, coordinating tutors, and contributing to the wider co-curricular life of the school.

You will play an important role in developing students’ acting, voice, movement, public speaking and performance skills, while creating opportunities for them to participate in examinations, competitions, showcases and school productions.

At St Peter’s, we strive for excellence and have a reputation for high achievement in academics, performing arts and sports. We offer our own junior curriculum programme culminating in the St Peter’s Year 11 diploma, preparing our students for either the International Baccalaureate or NCEA pathways from Year 12. Small class sizes give our teachers more opportunity to engage with students and invest in their overall growth.

Our staff benefits include lunch during the school term, professional growth opportunities, free onsite parking and competitive remuneration packages. St Peter’s is a child safe school and committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace environment.

St Peter’s reserves the right to interview and appoint exceptional candidates prior to the closing date.
