LTR Teacher of English

Bayfield High School is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic teacher of English to join our team to cover for a staff member on maternity leave. This is a great opportunity for an experienced teacher, or a beginning teacher with strong potential, to contribute to a school with high expectations, a proud tradition and a strong sense of community.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and capable Teacher of English to:

• teach English across Years 9 to 13, including NCEA
• plan and deliver engaging, well-structured programmes that build literacy and a love of language and literature
• support students at all levels, from those who need extra help to those who are ready to be extended
• use assessment information to monitor progress and lift achievement
• work collaboratively with colleagues in the English department and across the school
• contribute to the wider life of the school, including co-curricular activities.

About you

You will:

• be a fully registered teacher, or eligible for registration, with a current practising certificate
• have strong subject knowledge and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning
• be able to build positive, respectful relationships with students, staff and whānau
• be committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to supporting the success of all learners, including Māori students
• be a team player who is flexible, organised and keen to contribute.
