Central Regional Health School Manawatu/Whanganui
Teacher - High Health Needs Manawatū - 0.6 to 1.0 FTTE
- Full-time
- Permanent
- Special Duties Allowance, Regional Health School Unit.
About the role
Seeking an adaptable, empathetic and motivated teacher for a rewarding role working with students who have been away from school due to health conditions.
CRHS staff work with students with physical and mental health conditions preventing regular school attendance. We help students maintain their educational programmes and transition back to their school.
Daily travel to students’ homes, local schools, health settings and other venues around Manawatū is part of the job. Teachers may be required to work across different CRHS sites, including Feilding or wider Manawatū. The role involves working with students one-on-one and in multi-level groups. Teachers adapt the New Zealand Curriculum to suit individual learning and health needs, and are responsible for writing, implementing and evaluating individual student programmes.
The role will best suit someone flexible, innovative, patient and self-motivated. The preferred applicant will have at least five years’ successful teaching experience, with in-depth knowledge of the NZ Curriculum from levels 1-8.
Applicants need to work collaboratively within each student’s wider team. As well as teaching students, the role includes programme planning with schools of enrolment and health teams.
Applicants must be an experienced NZ registered teacher with a current practising certificate. A current, full, clean NZ driver licence and private vehicle are required for work travel.
A part-time position could be agreed if it suited both parties.
