About the role
Mālō e lelei!
Are you passionate about shaping young minds and protecting our rich Tongan heritage? We are looking for an inspiring, fluent educator to establish a brand new Year 5 to 8 bilingual Tongan class (Aonga Lea Faka-Tonga).
This is a rare, foundational opportunity to build a vibrant learning environment from the ground up. You will guide our senior primary and intermediate students as they transition into confident, culturally grounded leaders.
The role
- Establish the curriculum – design and launch a comprehensive bilingual programme tailored for high-achieving students, alongside other bilingual teachers.
- Cultivate fluent speakers – move students beyond basic greetings into sustained interactions, formal speechmaking (lea)
- Embed koloa – infuse authentic Tongan heritage, values, and genealogy into the modern educational landscape.
So if you have exceptional, native-level fluency in spoken and written Lea Faka-Tonga, are willing to support Tongan students to be proud of who they are, and can create a class environment in which students can thrive, we are looking for you. You will also understand the importance of building learning-focused relationships with students and their families. Apply today!
