Kia ora koutou,

Ormiston Senior College is a Year 11–13 coeducational public school in East Auckland. We are a future-focused school with a strong commitment to student agency, personalised learning and innovative, student-centred teaching.

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic science teacher to join our collaborative team in a full-time, permanent position commencing 28 January 2027.

For us, personalised learning means high-quality, culturally inclusive teaching that is responsive to the different ways our students achieve their best. He waka eke noa.

We welcome applications from teachers who are passionate about science and committed to providing engaging, purposeful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking and scientific understanding.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to:

• Teaching science across the senior curriculum, with the ability to contribute to NCEA programmes.
• Planning engaging learning that responds to diverse student strengths and needs, building on the dynamic concept of ako.
• Building strong connections with ākonga and whānau.
• Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment, moderation and programme development.
• Supporting student agency and innovative approaches to learning through learning guides.
• Developing an understanding of mātauranga Māori and honouring our obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Applicants are asked to identify their specialist science subjects (for example, biology, chemistry, physics or earth and space science) and indicate the levels they are confident teaching.

Please complete and submit the attached general appointment form as part of your application.

As with all teaching positions at Ormiston Senior College, the successful applicant will also be a learning advisor, supporting and guiding students in their learning pathways, wellbeing and academic success.

We look forward to hearing from enthusiastic educators who want to contribute positively to our Science learning area and the wider school community.
