About us

Woodford House, a leading special character, state-integrated, boarding and day school for Year 7 to 13 girls, in Hawke's Bay is seeking to appoint a fixed term, part time (0.5 FTTE), kaiako Māori to join our passionate kaimahi for Term 1 to Term 3 2027.

About the role

We are seeking a kaiako to deliver our te reo Māori classes from Year 7 to 13 to cover a period of parental leave. This role would suit a beginner or experienced teacher. There is plenty of scope to support our cultural competency and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi across the cultural cornerstone of the school.

About you

• Registration with the Teaching Council of New Zealand, or ability to obtain it.
• A relevant teaching or other qualification.
• Knowledge and appreciation of te ao Māori, and te reo Māori. 
• Capability to engage in cultural activities (for example, Mihi Whakatau, Pōwhiri, Kaupapa Māori) and has an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga), is desirable.
• A willingness to meet our future-focused learning goals.
• High level communication and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to our school’s Special Character. 

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand and satisfactorily pass all pre-employment checks such as Police Vetting and reference checking.
