Visual Arts Teacher

Pakūranga College is a large (2,400+ students), coeducational, culturally diverse secondary school located in Pakuranga, East Auckland.

We are seeking a Visual Arts teacher to join our Arts department for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave. The role involves teaching Visual Arts and contributing to our successful Art programme, which includes painting, photography, design and art history. Teaching specialisms can be negotiated to suit the successful applicant’s strengths, as we have a strong and flexible team who will support you. 

We welcome applications from both full-time and part-time candidates and are happy to discuss and negotiate the FTE with the successful applicant. Beginning teachers, including those in their first year of teaching, are warmly encouraged to apply and will be well supported within our experienced and collaborative Arts faculty.

The successful candidate will be an aspiring leader and teacher, with sound curriculum knowledge and a forward-thinking approach. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• a strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum in the Arts
• willingness to work collaboratively within a team environment
• the ability to connect with and inspire a diverse range of learners
• be willing to embrace our digital learning environment and to contribute to the active co-curricular life of the school
• a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and inclusive education practices
