ECE Teacher

Tawa Early Learning Centre in Taupō has a rare opportunity for a full-time, permanent teacher to join our teaching team, starting February 2027.

We are a community-based centre in Taupō that has been operating for 66 years. We cater to tamariki 2 years and over, offering sessional hours and school term dates. Our small, long serving team of teachers are committed to high-quality teaching and experiences for our tamariki in a fun, positive and nurturing learning environment.

Our long-standing reputation of excellence within our community is upheld by teachers who always strive for outstanding education and care of our tamariki.  We offer generous non-contact hours, paid professional development, and a beautiful working environment. We welcome applications from beginning teachers who are starting their teaching journey, to experienced teachers.

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

• is a fully registered ECE teacher or is working towards their qualification and certification
• has a sound understanding of Te Whāriki
• has a current NZQA first aid qualification
• uses te reo Māori me ōna tikanga in their daily practice
• always incorporates and reflects the New Zealand Teaching Council’s Code of Professional Standards and of Professional Responsibility
• uses a high standard of written and verbal communication
• brings commitment, professionalism, positive energy, flexibility, and a growth mindset to our team
• is confident at building genuine relationships with tamariki and whānau, nurturing tamariki and providing them with outstanding education experiences.
