Learning Support Coordinator / ORS Specialist Teacher

Join our team at Karāpiro School! We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and collaborative learning support coordinator (LSC) / ORS specialist teacher for 2027.

Up to 0.4 FTTE (days and hours of work to be discussed with the successful applicant)

Key responsibilities

• Learner-centred support: Identify, plan, and monitor tailored supports for students with additional learning needs and those receiving Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) support.
• Collaboration and coordination: Work closely with classroom teachers, teacher aides, and external specialists, including Ministry of Education Learning Support and RTLB, to design effective learning plans and facilitate smooth transitions.
• Whānau engagement: Build strong, trusting partnerships with parents and whānau to ensure their voice and aspirations guide student progress.
• Capability building: Coach and support staff to enhance inclusive teaching practices across the school.

Key requirements

• Must be a Registered Teacher with a current full practising certificate.
• Demonstrated experience working with tamariki with additional learning and support needs.
• Strong relational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across the school and wider network.
