Maths Acceleration Teacher (MAP)

Kaurilands School is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and experienced teacher to join our team in 2027 as our Maths Acceleration Teacher (MAP).

This full-time position will focus on accelerating mathematics achievement for students who require additional support to meet year-level curriculum expectations.

The successful applicant will work with small groups of students across Years 3–6, delivering targeted, explicit mathematics instruction through the Ministry of Education's Maths Acceleration Programme (MAP).

The role will involve:

• Delivering structured, targeted mathematics teaching to small groups of up to five students.
• Implementing the Ministry of Education's Maths Acceleration Programme, including planned 12-week teaching cycles.
• Using assessment information to identify learning needs, plan targeted instruction and monitor student progress.
• Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and school leaders to support and strengthen mathematics learning.
• Participating in Ministry-provided professional learning and development to support effective programme delivery.

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Has strong mathematics curriculum knowledge and effective teaching practice.
• Is confident teaching mathematics across a range of primary year levels.
• Understands structured, explicit teaching approaches and how to accelerate student progress.
• Can build positive, supportive relationships with learners and foster confidence and success in mathematics.
• Is collaborative, reflective and committed to making a difference for our tamariki.
