Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu Wellington

Regional Manager, Central South

  • Full-time
  • Permanent
  • Suitable for beginning teachers

About the role

Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school and state distance education provider, supporting more than 16,000 ākonga at any one time and over 30,000 throughout the year. Our vision is to empower ākonga to achieve their educational and personal goals, wherever they are.

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring educational leader to join our Learning Delivery Leadership Team as Regional Manager - Central South Region.

This pivotal leadership role is responsible for approximately 5,000-6,000 ākonga and 219 kaimahi across the upper South Island and lower North Island. The region includes offices in Nelson, Wellington, Palmerston North and New Plymouth, alongside kaimahi working remotely and within local communities.

As Regional Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to managers, kaiako and learning support kaimahi across the region. You will champion learner success, wellbeing, engagement and achievement, ensuring ākonga remain at the centre of decision-making. Working collaboratively across Te Kura, you will contribute to organisational priorities, strengthen relationships with whānau, iwi and community partners, and support equitable educational outcomes.

You will be an experienced senior educational leader, principal, or equivalent, with a proven ability to lead people, drive improvement and build high-performing teams. You will bring a strong commitment to educational equity, an understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga Māori, and experience supporting diverse learners.

This is an opportunity to influence educational outcomes at scale while leading a large, geographically dispersed workforce in a values-driven organisation committed to making a meaningful difference for ākonga.

Regular travel throughout the Central South Region is required.
