Amesbury School Wellington

Year 2/3 Kaiako

  • Full-time
  • Fixed-term (22 Jan to 10 Dec 2027)
  • Suitable for beginning teachers

About the role

We seek a collaborative and highly motivated kaiako to join our Year 2-3 team in 2027. This position is board funded, and is fixed term due to a very fluctuating roll.

At our school, we don’t operate in isolation. You will work within a collaborative teaching model, sharing collective responsibility for a larger group of tamariki. This is an ideal opportunity for an educator who values the power of partnership and thrives in a supportive, highly inclusive learning environment.

What we are looking for

Our ideal kaiako puts ākonga at the centre of every decision. The successful candidate will:

  • Champion the individual: See every tamaiti as a unique individual with their own strengths and learning styles, tailoring your approach to meet them where they are.
  • Embrace collaboration: Be a proactive team player who’s excited to be part of a highly supportive and positive team.
  • Be pedagogically sound: Have a strong understanding of the NZ curriculum and of ways to personalise learning to meet the needs of every learner.
  • Demonstrate cultural sustainability: Value and uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, integrating te reo Māori and tikanga into your daily practice to support success for all ākonga.

What we offer

  • A supportive and collaborative environment: Join a team that genuinely cares for one another and provides strong ongoing coaching and professional development. Our teams are highly collaborative and work in close partnership.
  • Modern learning spaces: Work in beautiful, flexible learning environments designed to foster creativity and collaboration.
  • Excellent resources: Access to a well-resourced environment, including fabulous, expansive grounds that encourage outdoor learning and play.
  • A great community: Be part of a welcoming, community-focused school environment in the wonderfully diverse and growing suburb of Churton Park.
