KingsGate High School Learning Support Coordinator (SENCO)

We are seeking a high school learning support coordinator (SENCO) committed to student access, success and confidence.

The successful applicant will coordinate agreed learning support in line with KingsGates Special Character across the high school, working within the school-wide framework established by the associate principal and head of learning support. They will:

• Work with students and whānau to understand learners’ strengths, needs, goals and aspirations.
• Coordinate the development, review and communication of Individual Education Plans and other learning plans.
• Help teachers use effective differentiation, Universal Design for Learning and agreed student-specific strategies. Classroom teachers remain responsible for implementing these strategies.
• Work with learning assistants to share learner information and support consistent use of agreed strategies.
• Coordinate student-specific collaboration with external specialists and agencies, including RTLB, following established referral processes.
• Support the identification of learning needs, assessment, interventions and referrals, and recommend additional resourcing to the Head of Learning Support.
• Contribute practical advice and agreed professional learning to strengthen inclusive teaching.
• Maintain confidential, timely records; monitor interventions; and report emerging needs or concerns.
• Teach an agreed programme based on your subject strengths and the school’s staffing needs.
• Contribute to school life and uphold KingsGate’s Christian special character.
