Takapau School is a full primary school (Years 1–8) in Central Hawke’s Bay. We are proud of our rural identity, strong community connections and commitment to providing meaningful learning opportunities for every ākonga.

Guided by our vision, A Community of Confident, Connected, Active Learners, and our values of Respect, Relationships, Responsibility and Resilience, we are seeking an enthusiastic, approachable and committed Deputy Principal to work alongside the Principal and lead the next stage of our school’s development.

We are looking for a leader who will:

• Provide effective curriculum and teaching leadership to strengthen practice and improve student achievement.
• Support and empower staff through collaboration, professional learning and positive relationships.
• Contribute to school-wide improvement, particularly in writing, literacy, mathematics and curriculum development.
• Promote inclusive, culturally responsive practice where every ākonga feels valued, connected and supported to succeed.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students, whānau and our wider rural community.
• Demonstrate initiative, sound professional judgement, flexibility and a willingness to contribute to all aspects of school life.

The successful applicant will be a reflective educator who brings warmth, integrity, energy and a sense of humour to their leadership. They will value the strengths of a rural school and be committed to making a positive difference for our ākonga and community.
