Havelock School Marlborough

Learning Support Coordinator

  • Part-time (0.2 FTTE)
  • Fixed-term (2 Feb to 11 Dec 2027)

About the role

At Havelock School, we live by our core values, respect, responsibility, and resilience. Nestled in our supportive community, we are committed to building strong, relationship-based learning environments where every tamariki feels valued and empowered to succeed.

We are seeking an experienced, empathetic, and collaborative NZ registered teacher to join our team as our Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) for 0.2 FTTE (1 day per week) throughout 2027. This is a non-classroom teaching role dedicated to coordinating targeted support and connecting our tamariki, staff, and whānau with the right learning support services.

In this targeted role, you will:

  • coordinate Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions and oversee Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for students with additional needs
  • act as our primary liaison with external agencies, the MOE, RTLB, and regional support networks
  • work alongside classroom teachers and leadership to advise on evidence-based inclusive practices and resource allocation
  • uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi, supporting bicultural practice so Māori students achieve educational success as Māori.

The fixed-term nature of this role is due to an upcoming organisational review and transition toward an anticipated combined model for learning support coordination in 2028.

This position is ideal for an experienced educator seeking a flexible, high-impact role or someone combining this with other part-time professional commitments.

Our ideal candidate holds a current NZ practicing certificate, brings proven experience supporting diverse learners, demonstrates exceptional relationship-building skills, and thrives in a collaborative rural school environment.
