Āwhina Te Mata Hawke's Bay
Kaiako
- Full time
- Permanent
- Suitable for beginning teachers
About the role
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Kaiako who has a understanding of, and connection to, Steiner philosophy and its holistic approach to early childhood education. We are looking for someone who is committed to nurturing the whole child, recognising the importance of imagination, creativity, rhythm, nature, and meaningful relationships in supporting children’s learning and development.
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for creating inspiring environments where children feel safe, valued, confident, and empowered to explore the world around them. We are looking for a Kaiako who brings creativity, initiative, and thoughtfulness to their practice, with a particular passion for developing engaging provocations and beautiful, purposeful play spaces that spark curiosity, wonder, imagination, and a love of learning.
Our ideal Kaiako understands the importance of open-ended resources, natural materials, seasonal experiences, and opportunities for children to learn through exploration, imitation, movement, and imaginative play. They will be confident in observing children’s interests and responding with intentional, meaningful experiences that support their individual strengths, developmental needs, and emerging ideas.
We value someone who is reflective, collaborative, and committed to ongoing professional growth. Building respectful, trusting relationships with children, whānau, and colleagues is essential, as is contributing positively to a warm, supportive, and inspiring team environment.
We are looking for a Kaiako who takes pride in their work, demonstrates reliability and dedication, and is willing to go the extra mile to create a nurturing and enriching learning environment. Someone who sees the beauty in everyday moments, values the wonder of childhood, and is passionate about providing children with the time, space, and freedom to develop at their own pace.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
