We welcome applications from teachers with strengths across all areas of our Years 0–6 school. Please tell us your preferred year levels and the experience, interests and strengths you would bring to our team.

This is an opportunity to join Apanui School as we strengthen our teaching and learning practices and introduce our new leadership structure in 2027. Teachers will work within teams covering Years 0–1, Years 2–3 and Years 4–6, supported by team leaders, two fully released deputy principals and our learning support coordinator.

Our priorities include effective literacy and mathematics teaching, purposeful assessment, and inclusive practice that helps every learner make progress. Te ao Māori is central to our direction, including growing te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and learning grounded in local Ngāti Awa histories and narratives.

We are looking for teachers who build strong relationships with tamariki and whānau, use evidence to respond to learning needs, and work constructively with colleagues. We value curiosity, openness to feedback and a willingness to try new approaches. You will be someone who can share ideas, discuss different perspectives respectfully, learn from mistakes and help put agreed decisions into practice.

Our June 2026 ERO report recognised good quality teaching, inclusive learning environments and strong partnerships with whānau. We are building on those strengths and welcome colleagues who want to contribute, keep growing their practice and have some fun along the way.
