ECE Kaiako

Kidzone Childcare Centre in Newtown is seeking a kaiako to join our team in a full-time, permanent role as one of our much-loved colleagues has made the call to move on from ECE teaching.

Kidzone is a community-based centre in Newtown that has been operating for over 35 years. We are a mixed-age setting with tamariki between 1 to 5 years old, with a maximum of 25 children a day. The learning and development of our tamariki is our priority and our cohesive, experienced teaching team of 7 provides them with a safe and caring environment to create, explore, and have fun!

Kidzone believes strongly in upholding the profession of early childhood teaching and is committed to providing outstanding care and education to our tamariki. We provide our kaiako with fortnightly full-day non-contact time and funding for professional development. We are also party to the ECE collective agreement. We welcome applications from beginning teachers starting their teaching journey to experienced kaiako.

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

is a fully registered ECE kaiako or is currently unqualified but intends to work towards becoming a registered kaiako

teaches in a way that reflects and incorporates the New Zealand Teaching Council’s Code of Professional Standards and of Professional Responsibility

can engage, and build positive relationships with, our tamariki and their whānau | families, the Kidzone Governance Group, and the wider community

is innovative, passionate, and enthusiastic, and is genuinely committed to the learning journeys of our tamariki.

We will be holding in-person interviews so ideally candidates will be Wellington-based.
