Year 7 and 8 Science Kaiako

Nelson Intermediate is a vibrant future focused school in the heart of Nelson. We are a dynamic, innovative, and multi cultural kura and are seeking a positive, energetic, enthusiastic science kaiako committed to supporting students to engage with learning experiences that activate the Science curriculum.

This is a 0.68 fixed-term position (or a higher FTTE by negotiation).

Kaiako at Nelson Intermediate:

establish and maintain engaging relationships with ākonga, staff and whānau

place ākonga at the centre of their mahi

have a deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

develop a culturally relational and responsive classroom environment

work cooperatively and collaboratively with ākonga and whānau

have excellent oral and written communication skills

have sound knowledge of the NZ curriculum and/or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and use effective pedagogy to support its implementation

effectively engage in a professional growth cycle to enhance high ākonga outcomes

support the school vision and values

participate in wider school activities.

Our science kaiako will work within our STEAM department. They will have sound knowledge of the Science curriculum.
