Centre Manager

Lead, teach and make a difference in a community-based early childhood centre.

Khandallah Community Crèche is a small, not-for-profit community-based ECE centre with a strong sense of whānau. We provide a nurturing environment where tamariki learn and thrive through play, kindness and gentle guidance.

As our current Centre Manager is moving overseas, we are seeking an organised, approachable and motivated leader who is passionate about ECE and enjoys balancing management with teaching.

About the role

This permanent position is 30 hours per week, including teaching on the floor two days per week, with evening whānau committee meetings twice per term.

Working alongside our Curriculum Lead Kaiako, teaching team and volunteer whānau committee, you will oversee:

Centre operations: Enrolments, waitlists, attendance, administration and whānau communications.

Finance: Payroll, fees, accounts, budgeting and financial reporting.

HR: Recruitment, employment agreements, leave, staff records and induction.

Funding and compliance: Ministry of Education funding, licensing requirements and regulatory reporting.

Teaching and leadership: Teaching alongside the team and supporting a positive, high-quality learning environment.

Health and safety: Maintaining safe practices, reviewing policies and supporting the centre’s ongoing development.

About you

You will have:

A recognised ECE teaching qualification and current full teacher registration in Aotearoa New Zealand.

ECE experience and a strong understanding of quality teaching practice.

Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take initiative.

A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to community-based ECE.

Experience in centre management, HR, payroll, finance or Ministry funding processes would be an advantage.
