English Teacher Year 7 to 13

We seek an enthusiastic English teacher passionate about literacy and committed to helping students become confident readers, writers and communicators. The ability to teach senior English is highly valued as KingsGate grows.

The successful applicant will:

Bring KingsGate’s Christian special character into their teaching, relationships and contribution to school life.

Inspire students to engage deeply with reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Teach English across appropriate year levels, including senior classes as the school grows.

Plan purposeful, engaging learning that builds literacy and supports students with diverse strengths and needs.

Prepare senior students for NCEA and other qualifications while delivering an English curriculum.

Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, moderation and programme development.

Build positive relationships with students, whaanau and colleagues.

Teach an additional subject where this matches their strengths and school needs. Please identify other subjects you could teach in your application.

Current New Zealand teacher registration, or eligibility to gain registration.

Strong subject knowledge, effective classroom practice and a passion for literacy.

The ability to motivate students, build confidence and maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour.

Confidence teaching senior English, or willingness to develop in this area.

A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and contributing to a developing curriculum.
